Community Life

Midsummer Prayer Service

Believe it or not, we are at midsummer! Like you, the staff of Fifth Avenue has enjoyed our quieter summer pace and our time away in Washington, Virginia, Rhode Island, down the shore, across the pond and on our comfy couches. Upon each happy return to Fifth Avenue, we have offered a similar response: “I was ready to come back.”  Our thoughts, regardless of where we wander, always anchor to the corner of Fifth and Fifty-Fifth!

Maybe yours do too? Maybe you find yourself longing to connect with your community while Weekly Word, Sages, and Community Groups enjoy their summer hiatuses. Longing with excitement to see our pilgrim community, the staff thought,“What if.”

That “What if” led us to create a holy space to connect at midsummer with you all in prayer!

Please join the Rev. Natalie Owens-Pike, the Rev. Chris Palmer, Director of Engagement Austin Applebach, and Director of Outreach & Missions Christine Boyle for a Midsummer Prayer Service on Tuesday, July 28. We will share prayer, lift up our intentions, and invite God’s grace to see us through to our September in-person and hybrid reunions. This is an open invitation to join our community in this midsummer season, as we inch closer to Homecoming Sunday.
